A People’s Poet

when John Betjeman was a
lad….
he used to smoke
and have a laugh
some innocent boyish
fun….
a glass of G & T
and a spot of tennis
he was even taught
by T.S. Eliot
now that’s awesome
if one’s an aspiring
poet
invited to all the best
parties
known to that group of
beautiful people
today dear, it’s called
social networking
once poet of the thirties
turned poet laurate of
seventies
fighting for London’s
heritage
lover of country churches
journeyman of country lanes
that very English poet!

About pmisteil

Hi, my name is Paul though I write under other names like, Thatcher and Paolo, I love literature, art and architecture their passion and drama....the contradictions. The notion of Truth-who is the person behind the mask? Or does it matter! I like long walks and longer conversations over cappuccinos in a cafe with atmosphere and the rest is a journey!
