A Requiem For Childhood

these days

are peppered with thoughts

of childhood

inquiring minds questioning

exposing the various shades

of reality

before colours lose their

and honesty acquires

dubious interpretations

yet there is a willing

a child’s eagerness to

before the serious doubting

or worst

callous manipulation by those

the gift of friendship

the betrayal of a smile

the most misuse of power

all the while

the innocent are feeding

on crumbs….

yet learning

practicing the mistakes

their guardians have made

until absorbed deep

beneath the skin

a requiem for childhood

About pmisteil

Hi, my name is Paul though I write under other names like, Thatcher and Paolo, I love literature, art and architecture their passion and drama....the contradictions. The notion of Truth-who is the person behind the mask? Or does it matter! I like long walks and longer conversations over cappuccinos in a cafe with atmosphere and the rest is a journey!
