Shades of Veneer

rain has penetrated

reflections from the pavement

clothes now stuck to

skin

summer showers too wet

waiting for a train

everything now running

after a timetable

a pause for readjustment

but it’s too late

waiting is still waiting

except….

the train station is

mid-nineteenth century

solid, cast

made to last

before modernity was a phrase

various shades of veneer

a bee word

a buzz word

in your face

making those irritating noises

in your ear

always afraid it might sting

that’s the pause!

hidden pain

and the waiting

that shitty timetable

a World without compassion

Amen

About pmisteil

Hi, my name is Paul though I write under other names like, Thatcher and Paolo, I love literature, art and architecture their passion and drama....the contradictions. The notion of Truth-who is the person behind the mask? Or does it matter! I like long walks and longer conversations over cappuccinos in a cafe with atmosphere and the rest is a journey!
