Surviving Another Year

A brand new year

has just been born

Storm force rain

has wet its head

The cycle starts again….

While sipping coffee

in my usual place

Le grand cafe

“Cafe en Seine”

I know their faces

but not their names

Today is heavy

yet the wind is willing….

My thoughts stuck in slow

motion

the cafe’s mood is quiet

Empty tables look

naked

but I am secretly

delighted

less distraction

as I sit and wait….

Separating thoughts from

memory

putting impressions into words

I sense numbness

in some smugness

perhaps

They feel immune

Surviving another year!

About pmisteil

Hi, my name is Paul though I write under other names like, Thatcher and Paolo, I love literature, art and architecture their passion and drama....the contradictions. The notion of Truth-who is the person behind the mask? Or does it matter! I like long walks and longer conversations over cappuccinos in a cafe with atmosphere and the rest is a journey!
